Centre for Virology, Vaccinology and Therapeutics (CVVT) is featured on RTHK’s show I&T New Era II.
Proactive and effective “surveillance and control” of epidemic infectious diseases outbreaks relies on the comprehensive knowledge of the viruses circulating in animals and human, reliable prediction of the potential of these animal viruses to jump interspecies barrier from animal to human, highly-multiplex diagnostic tests for rapid detection of these viruses in healthcare and field setting, broad spectrum antivirals for prophylactic and therapeutic treatment, and most importantly, a safe and towards-universal vaccine platform with heterologous protection against antigenically drifted viruses. CVVT is set to provide these conditions.
The new series I&T New Era II, which introduces InnoHK’s R&D projects in respective episodes, is jointly produced by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the HKSAR Government and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), following the previous series of the show I&T New Era broadcast from December 2021 to May 2022.
The show introduces the research projects and achievements of 28 research laboratories under InnoHK in a lively and practical manner, which allows the public to learn more about their research projects.
